can 350d use a 8gb CF card?

Yes, it'll work! I'm using a Seagate Photodrive (8GB). No problem at all.

But i feel it might be abit scary to store so much in one place... If anything happens to that card...your whole shoot is gone? maybe it would be better to place your eggs in many baskets

Yes, i had used a 8gb seagate microdrive on it before. But I think must use the latest firmware if I'm not mistaken.

I've used 8GB microdrive on it. works fine.
Only prob is that if u shoot at resolution smaller than Raw, the beginning counter will show 999 and won't be able to display actual count till the capacity for the number of pics left drops below tat number.

u can read the no. of photos shots from the playback screen...

The monochrome screen shows how many more photos you can shoot, not how many you've already shot.
