I don't think it's cheaper here in Europe. Just with the currency exchange rate, you've already earned yourself some extra buying power. On top of that, the GST/VAT is super high here - more than 15%!
Cheapest so far I've seen for an M8 goes for about 3.5k + euro. That's S$7k++. Hacker mentioned OP is selling for 6.9k The R-D1 is a rarity though you can try the second hand market. Here in Spain, new one goes for about 1.8k euros - about S$3.6k. I got one second hand from UK for about S$2.8k - expect to arrive today. Try to ask Chii and see if he knows any lobang. |

I doubt it'll be cheaper in Europe. Might wanna check out RangeFinderForum.com and ask the forumers there.
With the strong Euro and British pounds, for the Epson R-D1(s), it'll definitely be cheaper to purchase from the Japanese Domestic Market. As for the M8, price may vary but as far as *new* Leica products are concerned, they are usually fixed although some dealers might offer better pricings on the 1st batch of M8s which has been sent back for hardware fixes. Newer batches of M8s are still in the range of SGD $ 7k onwards. |

Cathay Photo long ago do not have any more R-D1s to sell as Epson Singapore is no longer bringing in any more sets. I think it is only possible to get grey sets only in Singapore now.

Seems like the only way these days is to take risks with a 2nd hand set online/storefront or spend a couple of hundreds on a plane bounded for Japan for a brand new spankin' one. Either way, what I heard is that Epson no longer take in spoiled R-D1s in for service and users have to depend on 3rd parties for repairs, be it major or minor. |
