New S5 IS

Anyone buying this camera or have bought this camera?

i havent seen it in the usual stores as of last saturday..
but i am interested to see if there is any significant improvements on its higher ISO noise levels.

Any diff between S3 and S5 ? Why the jap jump from 3 to 5 ?

i know 4 in japanese is pronounced as "si". but due to the same reason why chinese doesnt like that number, 4 can also be said as "yong" in jap

major differences include,
8 vs 6 mp
ISO 1600 vs ISO 800
horseshoe for flash vs no horseshoe
better lcd resolution, 207k vs 115k
bigger lcd, 2.5" vs 2"
heavier, 550g vs 510g
support for SDHC

and lastly the gimmickly, face detection.

Where is it sold? Canon is slow to come up with features.. Nothing exciting but surprising they have the hotshoe. Won't it kill the G7? Anyway, I think G7 is quite a beaten camera now. Can't match up with its predecessors.

The addition of the hotshoe is a killer feature. Makes the S5IS even more versatile.

$799 was also the list price for S3 IS but the street price was about $50 cheaper.

f-stop of G7 is f2.0 vs S5IS f2.7 at wide angle.

S3 also can use SDHC...

The camera is still not available in any shop yet. But Canon Singapore told me it will be available in the shops in 2 weeks' time and most probably by next week.
