hmm, imo. if u're looking for a value-for-money long-zoom cam, i'd suggest 6500fd. but if ur budget permits, den a 9600 would be a gd choice. but for its price, u might be able to get an entry-level dslr too. =]

Thanks. Not looking at DSLR as wife does not like to bother about lens changing at the moment. trying to get one that fits both our different usage styles as I prefer to have control of the cam.

I would also suggest getting a S6500fd over a S9600.
You can try both at MS Color, always providing the best prices/packages for Fujifilm cameras! |

S6500fd is a great performer, bang for the buck. All in 1 prosumer 28 to 300mm. Great low light. I paid close to $700 with case & filter back in Jan.
Go for 9600 if you want the swivel screen & hotshoe. bear in mind 9600 has a weight penalty with the additional h/w. |

Just got my S6500fd from M S Color this evening.
Not to go to webby and do e-warranty and then do the extended warranty. ![]() |

Can try the: www.fujifilm.com.sg site. Should have as accessories. Fuji uses XD on most of their digicams. |

Hi guys,
I am new to this site (first post). FYI: Went down to Alan Photo, sim lim, last night. They quoted S9600 @ S$660 w/o freebies. I am thinking of getting one too... ![]() |

M S Color at AMK Central has stock for both the S6500fd and the S9600 If you are new to photography, stick to something at you may use often. Dun buy something and then most of the features become white elephants as you may not know how to use them yet. Cheers.. I for one looked at both and compared them. Decided to go for the S6500fd instead as I know the S9600 has features that I will never use. Cheers.... |

hmm, it's an electronic picture stabilisation, as in all e other fuji's models with ps. so it just pumps up the iso sensitivity in tt mode n produces tad noisy results, especially in low light conditions. so whether it's for e 6500 or e 9600, the results are the same.

their verdict - "If I wanted to buy a bridge camera right now I'd get a Fujifilm S6500fd. If I wanted to buy a budget DSLR with a travel zoom then I'd also think long and hard about whether the S6500fd wasn't a better choice. It's between £50 and £100 cheaper than the S9600 and unless you need the extra pixels I think it's a better buy. It will also save you £100 - £200 off the price of an entry level DSLR and be somewhat easier to live with. The face detection isn't perfect - many times it just doesn't work yet but I like to see it as a handy bonus. This is a great camera with face detection thrown in." overall, i agree with felixcat. Features-wise have to research if really need them (esp the hotshoe and command dial for manual controls) . Either case, I think both are great buys. features wise 9600 very few extra than 6500 but 9600 might juz sway me over, notably the hotshoe, the manual command dial, the vertical swing screen (juz a novelty to me but great to let friends wow over it), both xD n CF card able. dimension wise only deeper than 6500. weight of coz heavier. price-wise can start to think abt other brands of bridge cams but stil much much lower than entry level new DSLR (savings of > $500 still significant). pic quality-wise same as 6500 from what i see. on the other hand, 6500 has face detection altho well.. its not perfect. there's also ISO3200 for the realy crazy shots haha. being torn between the two shows how well positioned they are with prosumers not going too wrong with either.
