Default Filter for Canon 10-22mm

Hi everyone,

I am considering getting the 10-22mm lens, need some advice.

If I were to get a UV filter, must it necessary be the slim version?

Any problems with vignetting due to whichever filters you used?

Feedback appreciated!

I using the normal filter. Very slight vignetting at 10mm, but can be easily cleaned up during post processing.

You will need slim filters if you shoot 10mm and use 2 filters - e.g. UV plus C polariser. Either that or you have to swap filters or do the no filter thingy (taking care of course).

Ok, already bought the lens.

Seems like there is a trade-off, slim filter --> unable to attach lens cover.

Still, I guess shouldnt let such things distract from the main aim - just shoot!

Thanks for all the replies!

hi repusez, I am actually using B+W CPL on 10-22. there won't be vignetting unless you decide to stack it on top to another normal filter for easy removal.

ERM... well yes? hehehe but bcoz CPL filter is thicker than normal filter, almost twice the size of a normal filter... so stacking a CPL and a normal filter is like 3 filter together. very obvious dark edge can be seen... hee

stack 2 definitely will..

In fact you get more than just vignetting, you will get a dark ring at 10mm

So remove UV when u put on CPL

I have used both slim and non-slim B+W MRC 010 on my 10-22 (without stacking, of course)... No vignetting. 10-22 is a good lens!!! Enjoy

I have used 77mm for both slim-B+W Cir-Pol) and normal/non-slim B+W UV-MRC010 on my 10-22 = no stacking=NO vignetting but when I stack it even with my slim-B+W Cir-Pol only very minor(to me) corner vignetting occurred.

i'm using normal Hoya Super HMC filter on it. dont seem to have caused any major form of vignetting that would give me quirks. =)
