Default Fujifilm A820/A900

Does anyone own this camera? Care to comment about this camera?

It's probably too new for comments. Anyway, i bought the A610 lowest end version for my son to play around with. I like that it accepts the SD and XD picture cards. I also bought a second hand F10 for myself and find the pictures have less noise compared the the A610 at ISO 400 setting but the A610 has faster focussing speed. Hopefully the NR is better for the A820 and A900.

Thanks milamber, I've handled it yesterday in PC Show, I realized that the picture storing speed is a pain, it takes about 1 second to store a 8 mega pixels picture. The salesman told me it is because the camera is using AA size battery.

I think the speed of the card will have more effect than the use of AA size battery. Many fast cams use AA size batteries. How much is it at the PC show? Seen it being sold for $299 at places like Harvey Normal and Best. I think Fuji scrimped on the NR algorithms for these lower end cams. I bought it coz of the Super CCD and the pics do turn up nice and sharp with the great Fuji colours, just the noise levels a tad bit high. I recommend you look at some of the second hand offers in the B&S section for the F20. Selling as low as $250 i think. Very good value. Got my F10 for $170 to play with while waiting to see Fuji's update to F31. Should be coming soon, with the prices dropping to $499. Must be clearing stock to make way for the update?

Yup, A820 is selling at $299 with freebies (1GB SD card etc) whereas A900 is selling at $359 with freebies (2x1GB SD card etc) . When I zoom in the image taken with highest ISO800 all the way, the noise handling is very good. Better than my friend's fuji Z2. I guess it is because this camera use 1/1.6" CCD compared to Z2's 1/2.5" CCD.

I believe F20 has the same low resolution 2.5" LCD and it can shoot up to ISO2000. However I don't think I will shoot up above ISO800 so A820/A900 should be enough for me.

The storing speed that i mentioned is when the camera store pic into internal memory, so i guess it should be faster than any memory card right? Still, it took about a second. Not to mentioned with memory card. The playback zooming is very slow also. Maybe the zooming steps are too fine. Wonder whether we can change the step in the menu or not.

I like the picture of the red tulips. Very saturated. Nice colours.
