Opinion on getting Canon gear from China

Hi all, I’ll be going to China next month and was thinking of buying some gear from there as I believe the Canon prices there are close to HK prices. Any comments or opinions about buying stuff from China? Anything I should be aware of? I don’t have a problem with HK/Macau/China warranty as I have many friends working or living in HK and China to help me out if I ever have to claim warranty. I travel to China pretty regularly myself too.

Get to know the reputable local dealers and do your homework. You'll be fine.

so far.... i bought 1 lens and a few bags in hk, and china. no issues so far. as for the lens i got from china, it comes with international warranty, and better still.. nice pple.

but heck. forgot the place. i sucked at chinese since i was brought there by a fellow designer.

Thanks for the info guys. Might get some lenses or maybe even a new DSLR body on my upcoming trip. Price is certainly a big attraction.
