Default F31fd - Should I buy?

Heard of great reviews of this cam. But it doesn't have wide angle lens and IS. Should I wait for Fuji to come out wif one model with IS and wide angle or jus buy F31fd now?

Is the day shots of F31fd gd?

maybe this one shall give u some idea: http://www.pixel-peeper.com/digicams/?camera=347 and http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=239133 . I using one and find it work fine for both day and nite shots. nevertheless, f31fd really excels in low light condition among the other cameras of the similar class.

Just take a look at all the gorgeous pictures in the F31fd sample pics thread. That should answer your question.

Day shots are excellent. But as you have noted, there are downsides to the F31fd.

Yes, there's no wide angle in the Fuji. I believe in a cam, if you must have it, you must have it. So weigh your priorities. If you like wide angles a lot (eg travelling), then the 36mm on the F31fd may be too tight.

Image Stab. is a very good feature. Too bad the F31fd doesn't have it. You don't want to always find an excuse to increase the ISO on the F31fd even though its noise control is good.

I think there's no point waiting. I dunno what's with manufacturers like Fuji and also Canon. They seem to come out with worse off cams or new models with nothing big to shout about. The later models of the F31fd do not have "IS", or even the semi-manual controls of the F31fd. And most say the F31fd has the best noise control so far.

So I doubt Fuji is going to intro any better ones than the F31fd. Even if they did, it could be a long time (many months of years from now).

If you put high value on clean and sharp images, go for the F31fd. Otherwise, I can advise you there are many other brands with better features.

IMHO, it's style vs substance.

Go for the one that gives you the best output and not the best input.

Happy shopping!

f31 or f40 more recommended if price isn't the problem?
was thinking of the promotion from ms color.

If me, definitely the F31fd. It has Apperture priority and Shutter priority modes as well as a closer macro focussing distance (5cm). But if you want to print larger sizes, then the F40's 8mp may be more useful, though i doubt an extra 2mp will make much difference. The use of cheaper SD cards on the F40 is tempting too. But overall, F31fd is my pick.
