Yeah, welcome to the world of nature photography. It is really fun chasing the butterflies, bugs, etc.

Oops. Guess I've been doing it all wrong, then

Seriously, most of the advice given here is right. Take a break. No point shooting if you don't enjoy it. And sin is right too. There are lots of other things to occupy you in the meantime. You'll eventually feel the urge to take some pictures again. Or, at the very least, buy more equipment.

If your life revolves only around photography, there's something wrong. Oops, this may be the wrong place to say something like that. But anywaaayyyy....

how about learning to swim then? then can dive, and then can shoot pretty fluorescent fish.

    Smile In the meantime...wait..

    Waiting for
    future to happen,
    Waiting for past
    to end,
    Waiting for husbands, fathers,
    Children, friends.

    Waiting, while life
    walks by,
    Waiting, while death
    stays late,
    Waiting, for
    Everyone
    We wait.

    Waiting for nights
    to flee,
    Waiting for days
    to call,
    Waiting while
    oceans dry,
    Waiting while
    mountains fall.

    Waiting,for blood
    to wake,
    Waiting,till eyes
    can see,
    Waiting, eternally
    waiting
    To be free.

Sometimes shooting too much or getting too involved in photography-related activities does make one feel a bit jaded, frustrated and makes one lose interest. (this probably applies to any activity, hobby or interest).

When that happens, take a break, or reduce the time spent, and take some time to do other things. Maybe instead of going out shooting, get some books from the library and learn up on some old masters or techniques or particular area that you are not familiar with. I find that this sometimes helps me to visualise better and if I have not been shooting for a while, it makes me want to whip out that old camera and try out some of the things I have read.

yaaay! and join us diving and take underwater photos! only problem - the casing will not cost an arm or a leg - they will definitely cost an arm AND a leg!

by the way, if we do too much of something it's not good. it's like obsession. we need to tell ourselves to take a break at times - then come back full-forced.

may the force be with you, Dagger!

well i don't know you well but here's my 2c worth. A couple of year's back when i was shooting almost full time for my school, i felt exactly like u. the day i stepped out of school, i told myself i'd never shoot again, ever. Sold off all my stuff and lost a great deal of money in the process. After a 6mths break, the urge came back. I've since rediscovered that photography without the pressure of having to have to ans to others with your photos, tends to be more therapeutic. Think abt going for a similar break, look into other things, spend more time with your friends and loved ones. My mistake was to make photog the most impt thing in my life. Don't let it be. All things are equally important.take care.
