This is too new already. Normally new pana take about 1-2 mths to come to sg. And 1 more mth for price to stable down.

It came out in today's Sunday Times...

Anyway, ISO range of 80 - 1600 (with boost to 6400 in high sensitivity mode)... a tad too ambitious, given Pana's track record? Heh.....

"The DMC-FX100 incorporates a new 1/1.72-inch large CCD with 12.2-megapixel rich recording resolution. This super-high resolution is possible because sufficient light-receiving area is allocated to each pixel, thus preventing noise that would otherwise be generated by a smaller pixel area."

Hmmm............

If it costs below $450, it will be a death strike to the competition.

I think it should be about the size of the Fuji Super CCD HR sensor then and even Fuji dare not put so many megapixels into their sensor for fear of losing their low-light/low noise capabilities. I expect Pana's high noise track record to continue with this one, unless they tweak their VenusIII processing engine which will cause the tradeoff of lessening the sharpness of their Leica lens, something i feel they will not do.

I bought it at $480 at mscolour with 2 gb card and leather case. Easy to use. I like the wide very much and for a P&S, 7.2 is okay for most printout.

The size of the FX100 is slightly bigger than FX30. FX30 has underwater scene mode thus it have the underwater housing for it (I bought it for this purpose) Both also 3.6x zoom but FX100 has this HD video quality if you are into it.

Yes indeed, the FX30 is small and sleek. And with a leather case to dress it, so classy
