    Default B & W? When?

    Just a curious qn... when do you guys and at what conditions do you all decide that a particular shot or frame should be best shot at B & W instead of color...

    When I believe the coloured version may not make the point strong enough.

    When i take certain portraits or old pple or abstracts.
    Canon EOS 5D, 24-70 f/4 L IS, 50 f/1.2 L, 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS, 600EX-RT. Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6 EX.

    Ya la... which is like when do you feel the colored version is not strong enough? Ultimately, what is the deciding factor for going B&W

    Like when there is a busy street full of colours, but the person may be drowned out by the colours.

    Or when there is a whole range of colours fighting for attention when all you need to show is the tonal differences of the whole scene.

    you could do it all the time by using B&W film then you would get a feel of what kind of picture would look good in black and white.

    I believe that as long as you're not focused on capturing color, any picture can make a potentially good B&W

    Thanks for all yr comments. So i would say there is no really a hard and fast rule but a matter of preference

    Sometimes, I don't choose. Just take both. Of course its about your personal preference.

    For me, is when the Forms & Shapes are more sound than Colors.
