Smile S1,s2,S3 Pro... Shutter Crease...

JUST TO SHARE THIS INFO WITH FUJI DSLR USERS...

Hi, Have just check with Fuji Singapore today.

Once the s1,s2,s3 shutter counts reaches the end, You cant just change the shutter.

You will have to change the whole body, Fuji quote $1000+ for s3 pro body.

Once yr shutter dead, you cannot change the Shutter...

Use yr Camera wisely, else onces the shutter is "Dead". It will be extremely costly....

Utter nonsense!

There is such a thing as ALTERNATIVE source of changing. And there are places to do it cheaper, by a lot. And that's all mentioned time and again on this sub-forum.

School is out, but doesn't mean it is time to spam.

Get your facts right.

Fujifilm Singapore charges $1,300 for "replacement of shutter unit". Did you even find out if that is what it really is?

It is not. The actual fix can only be done in Japan, as Fujifilm Singapore does not have the parts nor the expertise to open up the camera body and do the replacement. What you are paying for (and Fuji will tell you this, if you ask them nicely) is courier to Japan, service charge of Fuji Japan, and courier back to Singapore, plus a tiny charge for the local office handling your camera.

The actual part is merely a shutter unit, ripped out from a spare Nikon F80/N80 body (with whatever circuits Fuji has attached to one). And that costs a little over S$400. And this is discussed several times in the last one year somewhere on this Fuji subforum.

For you to get so uptight in rebutting, you could at least get your facts clear and correct first. Neither of which you have done.

Looking at his B&S, anyone can catch the intent.

This is the first time in my whole life hearing that we need to replace the WHOLE CAMERA just because of the SHUTTER. If it is true, maybe we should just buy a new camera instead of getting it fixed.

As for TS, I think maybe got some miscommunications between u and the staff there. A number of us had got the quote of ard $400+, including myself. Or maybe they see u good to chop that's why call u change the whole camera (just a maybe)?

Relax ah, it's not end of the world yet. BTW, how come u need to send ur S3 for servicing? U mean u bought a spoilt S3 Pro at $1000+? If that's the case I think u are really into S3 then. Hope to see more of ur post ard. Have fun shooting.

now now, i understand the frustration is boiling inside u...

to be honest, before u posted this shutter problem, no one seems to haf any problem with shutter changing.

so all in all, good effort from u.

i'll call up my old pal in fujifilm tomolo to verify ur claims of which i'm quite certain u're right.

this thread will be closed for the time being.

just for the record, from my limited personal understanding, changing of the shutter unit requires the user to send in the whole camera in but... it doesn't mean that the whole camera will be changed to a new one.

it is simply the changing of the shutter unit. i understand that FujiFilm Singapore might need to send the camera back to Japan for a total checkup and changing of the shutter unit and thus the cost might be higher.

but it doesn't mean that the whole camera will be changed to a new one.

so if any users haf the misfortune of having their shutter unit died on them, they might be keen to check out alternative repair workshops such as Camera Hospital.

its always wise to get a quotation before u carry out the repair.

ok, till i call the kind folks in FujiFilm.

ok, jus called the folks at FujiFilm and the whole costs is around S$1k plus.

but being the resourceful people that we all are, i'm sure most will go to alternative sources for a 2nd opinion.

haf fun guys.
