Are those 'cool chargers' supposed to prolong the life of batteries?

If fact most fast chargers on the market now have 0 delta V or - delta V detection and use pulse instead of constant current to charge. So the only reason that battery gets hot is that the charging current is too big. So for Sanyo quick charger charge 4 battery at once (so smaller current) or put one/2 battery in some specific position for to have the same charging current as chargin 4 battery at once instead of the double speed charging. Not sure about the sony charger
