first few attempt at black and white

hi guys, this is one of my first attempts at bw photos. tell me what u think.

This was taken in Canada, on a ferry. High ISO used to stop motion blur from the ferry.

I think it is great. very dramatic and very minimalistic! only maybe a little more tonal gradation in the foreground, just a tad.

I think this is an excellent picture

My eyes are drawn along the cloud layer. Perhaps a subject in the foreground if possible would have been nice to give a sense of scale contrasting against the mountains. But great picture anyway! The mood is captured perfectly

but this would look really bad in print.

is it my screen or is there some strange black patches on the rite?

the strange black patches are natural. at that time got sun shining out of the clouds, so there was rays of light dispersed. Thus the vertical lines in the right of the pic
yeah... i tried to print, its too noisy for print.... is that why u said it would look bad in print?

yap. paiseh cause prefer seeing things in print lah.

the vertical lines look very ghostly

think the clouds are great but perhaps lost abit too much detail in the bottom left. would have preferred it abit less "black".

I would have preferred more sky and less sea... That said, this has excellent dramatic b&w landscape elements. Well spotted and shot
