The F40fd is a point and shoot with no manual controls.
The F31fd has more manual controls like aperture and shutter priority. F31 also has better noise control I think cos of the diff in max ISO. |

Then no contest lah... F31fd will be more preferred by me...
F40 is a bit smaller & slimmer meh? I can't see that when looking at them on the shelf at the shops. ![]() |

F40 is 8mp so expect the noise performance to be not as good. So for me it is either the F31fd or I might as well go for Canon if I can't get the low noise.

If you don't have F31 no harm to try, but if you have F31 don't bother to change

How does the F40 compare with the F31 in terms of image quality? Noise, etc.
Does the F40 have M mode? As in..at least..can i set the ISO myself? Cos i hate it when the camera chooses Iso 800 and above automatically. How about the flash modes... same as F31? |

Any "auto settings" for anything, it will go to the highest "thing"(like car/camera) as it is programmed in this way.

Does the F40 vs F31 use the same sensor?
Does anybody know for sure that if the two cameras were to use the same shutter speed and aperture, it would produce same results? The low noise quality of the F31 is the same too in F40? Thanks |

I'd go for the F31. Closer macro focussing, more shots per charge of battery (approx 500 vs 300) and more control (aperture and shutter priority mode). Oh, not to forget, the cheaper price.

yup, me too. unless ur priority is on the type of memory usage, i'd say that e f31fd has an edge over e f40fd in terms of performance.
