Who Just Bought The Camera Devices EG-ENEL3e In Apr & May 07?

I bought 1 pc Camera Devices EG-ENEL3e (Silver Contact) last month Apr during the
above link sale.
Just started using it this week cos my 2nd child just arrived into this world on last Wed.
It drop to 1 bar after 20 shots...
I thought I never charge it, so I make sure I charge it and same thing still happened..
Busy with my the birth but I still rush down to EG today morning to exchange the battery.
I charged the battery in the hospital and put it inside the D200...
More worst.. after 5 shots it dropped to 1 bar again..

Luckily I got 1 more pc of Camera Devices CD-ENEL3e (Gold Contacts) which I paid for
at a higher price few month back and it still working strong till today..
BTW, the CD-ENEL3e (Gold Contacts) look better bulid then the EG-ENEL3e (Silver Contact).

Called up EG straight and was told might be batch problem.
Was offered a final exchange for another piece if still faulty, can do a refund.
Or can opt for refund straight but for refund, EG will deduct 5% as I paid by CC
that time. True??

Anybody else bought the same battery during the stated period and having
the same problem as mine??

I bought it last week (silver contact). i charged it to full but havent used it.

Update:

Battery was 1st charged one week ago on day of purchase.
Battery showed 92% when fully charged.
Just took 12 shots, battery showed 91%.
Turned off and turned on again.
Battery started flashing.
Restarted again.
Battery showed low.
I checked battery meter, meter showed 1%.

Time to bring back for a refund.

No point change to another batt as seem all the same..
Was told new batch will only in around 1 to 2 month time..

I bought my Camera Devices EG-ENEL3e on 7 May.

I charged it last week and tested it today when I read about this post.

My D200 showed full charge but after taking 2 photos today, it dropped to 1 bar.

I'll going to Eastgear tomorrow.

i got 2 of EastGear's ENEL3e with Gold Contacts.

so far so good. but...


1). even though it is rated at 1800mah, it cannot last longer than my 1500mah Nikon originals(550+Raw and small jpeg). i only managed at most 300+Raw and small jpeg even though i've used them abt 10times.

2). even though it has beautiful Gold Contacts, sometimes my D200 will fail to detect them.
it's ok after i use sensor swabs and cleaned the contacts.



otherwise, they are pretty ok as backup batteries!

I bought mine 2 weeks ago. So far, I've shot twice. 1st weekend I went Sungei Buloh, after ~200 shots, it was still showing full on my D50.

2nd weekend, I went to shoot Singapore River Raft challenge. After 261 shots, it dropped a bar.

It works just fine for me. However, when I first got it, I charged it overnight. Perhaps you should do that too.

D50 uses ENEL3e?


perhaps the problem lies with the ENEL3e series only.

Yes, I'm using EG-ENEL3e. Wanted to get the 3a but they say it was out of stock, and they'd most prob not be carrying it anymore.

3E is backward compatible(for bodies)

In fact even for nikon ones, alot of the D50 ones were recalled and changed to 3e at NSC for D50.

I just went to Eastgear today to change my EG-ENEL3e and was given another battery from the same batch to test out.

Charged it for about 1 hour, put into my D200 and it showed full bar. Took about ten photos, battery showed full bar, off and on again, battery indicator showed 1 bar left.

Tested with the original Nikon EN-EL3e battery with the same conditions, battery indicator still showed full bar.

Those that have the bad batch EG-ENEL3e forget about trying out the same batch and wait for the new batch which will be available next month to save on the trip of going to Eastgear.

Have you tried taking a number of photos until it's flat? Meaning you might still be able to get a few hundred shots out of it although it shows 1 bar. Anyway, does D200 have the number of shots left gauge?

If they refund straight to your credit card, there should be no % charge. I recall other retailers doing the same thing for my refunds.

I bought the batt for my D200 several months ago. Same thing happended, the batt when fully charged beforehand can suddenly go flat. Can I change it if I can't find the receipt?

You may wanna call up EastGear to ask as this confirmed batch problem liao..

The new batch of EG-ENEL3e has arrived at Eastgear and it comes in a new blister pack.

I've just bought a couple of them today.

There's a 25% discount right now, original $29.95 and after the discount, it cost $22.50.

I'll test it on my D200 later in the day to see that everything is good to go.

That's good news. You mean the D200 batt is only 29.95? Thought its 59.95??
