Default regarding an issue.

umm hi.

firstly i want to start of by saying that im not here to stir any trouble/ point fingers at anyone's view point.

this is regarding the sentosa underwater world tread ( sorry mods for bringing this up )

i have a marine fish tank and i belong to a club of like minded individuals. we love the sea as much as divers ( i can say this for most of my club but sadly there are people who dont care )
but the point is that we actively try to do our part for the environment by propagating the corals in our care ( it is quite sucessful ) this happens often and by that .. we try to do our part in lowering the number of corals that are taken from the sea. even with fish we are raising the fry of the fish to be sold/given to others ( i assure u this is not of commercial interest, the cost/work of raising fry outweighs the money earned from it )

also almost everything taken from the sea is reused if possible.. even which the rock that was taken.

you may have your views and shoot arrows back at me but kindly direct them thru PM as i do not want to stir up trouble on the forum ... pls not that debates are welcome and flames will be left to burn till its put out. thanks

once again im sorry for bringing this topic up but i felt the need to bring up this point.

Wow... what can i say...

I know im suppose to PM you but can I suggest something....

This is a place where we share underwater photography where the shots are taken underwater... hence if you would like to debate on something that is wrt nature and conservation, which has to do with a bigger community, why dont you start a thread somehwere else like on finsonline and invite us there to comment... im sure there are many enthusiast and divers that would like to give their 2 cents...

The mod was good to close the thread as even I went out of line and spoke out of topic. i.e. underwater photography

Regards

Like wise to the black sheeps in diving and just about everything else, Im sure there are great guys who actually cared for the creatures or stuff they do.

We are against is because you cannot guarantee the source of your corals, and someone already mentioned coral reefs only covers 1% of planet earth, taking from it is not going to help.

Breeding the fish and giving them or selling them away will be great if it would stop people from harvesting from the reefs illegally. And it could be another great way to raise awareness.

but people being people.. see the Luo Han Fish Escapades

people dump them into the rivers.. after the fish stop giving them numbers..

Anyway this would be the wrong forum to bring this up unless its underwater photography related
