1 1/3 stop faster. Actually, IMHO, a 50 f/1.4 is not that much worth the money unless you do a hell lot of low-light available darkness photography (and some call this "available money" photography).

Cool, hows Sam & Co doing? Is that the 1D or D30?

1 1/3 stops make a hell lot of difference, a lot more than you think in super low light situations!

and also, the build quality is better, has slient focusing USM with full time manual focus (good for those low light situations as well) and DOF and distance scale.

Actually hor, I made a mistake. It's ONLY 2/3 stops faster.
