actually, not really that tempted. other than the VR (which is not ALL that useful for the subjects i take) and the reduced weight, i don't see that much advantage IMHO.

however, a new toy is always nice to have, hence the temptation.

I just saw/handled/tested/played with one earlier this morning here in the UK that is being offer for sale secondhand (two weeks old only)!!! Owner was apparently switch to differnent format and system.

Otherwise, he didn't have reason to change...
His complete set was up for sale to switch over to a Full-Frame DSLR (1Ds) system!
(AFS 300/2.8, AFS VR 70-200/2.8G, AFS 80-200/2.8, AFS 28-70/2.8, AFS 17-35/2.8, 85/2.8 PC all for sale)

The items are at Kingsley Photographic (Tel: 020 7387 6500, ask for Tim) and according to Tim, the prices are:

85mm f/2.8 PC Micro-Nikkor - £825.00
300mm f/2.8D AFS - £2595.00

AFAIK, these have not been officially logged in their system yet.

Hi Szenny,

Thanks for the information. Owww... those prices are steep man. I bought my original mint 300 for £2000 flat, and was offered a new AF-S II for £2500. Was hoping for something closer to 2k... ah well.

Time to go to KWANON!
