i am planning to sell off all my 1GB SD cards, to save space, but what i am worried is the things once stalled inside. i remembered that HDD's data can be recovered but what about memory cards?

Yes. As long as the sector that holds the data is not cleared, it's recoverable. Formatting only destroys the FAT. It doesn't clear the data.

To lose the image totally on CF, overwrite the CF with junk 1ce before selling it.

For a HDD, it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy longer.

Yes. But it's safer to do it several times. Normally 7 times should suffice.
