Hahaha, anyways Singapore is not really suitable for these dogs, they are used to cooler climates genetically.. So by logical deduction the owner should be quite rich, because need to keep the dog air-conditioned.
There was an article a while back on this husky lover who uses one of his bungalows or houses or what to house his beloved huskies.. Whole house air-conditioned.. ![]() |

it is actually not good to keep these dogs in our hot humid climate, they will suffer.

Guess we'd never truly understand what the dog is feeling.
I used to think having arctic breeds in Singapore was akin to a crime, but really, if the owner is able to provide reasonable care for the dogs, we shouldn't be too critical. If so, this line of thought may extend to long-coated dogs like show quality shihtzus, malteses, heck even golden retrievers etc.! Methinks it more crucial that a dog gets enough exercise (since the husky is considered a working dog) than whether its triple coat will give it a heatstroke. And the lady in the above picture is just doing that - cool waters & extensive space for some stretching of the limbs. ![]() |

actually, their double coat do also insulate against heat as it traps air, air is a bad conductor of heat. therefore anyone shaving off their coat is really doing them harm. they dont have to be aircon-ed 24hr. but of cause provide a shade or a swim at the beach would do fine. nothing bad.
siberian husky vs a.malamute. in this picture its a s.husky a malamute would have much bigger build and bigger head size and of cause paw size ![]() |
