Just set up up my new 8600f. So excited, but cannot find anyway to scan film. For those who uses Scan Gear, the drop down menu for "Select Source" shows only choices for photos and documents. None for Negative Film or Positive Film.
I have tried re-installing. Still does not work. Any ideas anyone? ![]() |

i have read good reviews on this scanner, but haven't seen any output samples yet.
as for the negatives scanning option, have you tried disconnect and reconnect the cable connecting the film adaptor to the scanner. |

Managed to get it to work, it was the cable
![]() Anyway, does anyone know what setting to use? dpi, output size? When I set dpi at 1600, it showed that the output file would be about 9M. But it comes up to be about 2M. Output size was set as "flexible". It also takes a long time to scan 1 roll of 135 film...Patience training Also, found out that my vintage 1989 film has deteriorated so badly Total newbie when it comes to scanning. |

I just bought one, it's a great affordable scanner for me. Some sample outputs for negative monochrome here:

I typically scan negatives at 1200DPI. For positives, I use 1600DPI for the extra detail from my slides. The actual file size wont be 9M dont worry, but the scanning time will definitely be slow as this isnt a dedicated scanner.
