They do fly away....but they do land on and around the same spot or there abouts....so can recompose and shoot. And as long as the subject is in the DOF, the details will be there.

#2 belongs to the Neridae family of Dipterans. Also known as Cactus flies (altho in Aust. they are called Stilt-legged fly, but in other countries, stilt legged flies are actually another family of flies - too cheem for me too). Anyway, they are decomposers ie feed on rotting vegetation. #3 and 4 - work-in-progress, at least there are some features I can use for identification.

#3 and #4 are known as the Long Legged Flies. There are many variations of these flies, and this one in particular are much larger than the rest. Their wings have some dark patches.: ![]() Wrt Stilt Legged flies, I read in some books (something like "Insects in south east asia" )that these were them: Some called it White Handed flies.....but did a google and did not find anything on it. ![]()

Tchuanye, your macros are really scary. Looks like a lot of DSLR users are going to be converted to Prosumer fix lens DSLR. Fantastic work and very innovative using different setups with your Lumix.
