Last i went over a month ago isn't too bad. The street lights have yet to be activated. No doubt light pollution from nearby mersing town is slightly worse than previous years, it affects mostly the southern skies. Even then, u can still easily see the milky way in the south. Here's a 30sec exposure in the southern sky.

The sky glow seems quite bad. Even the Coalsack is barely visible. Looks like time to source for a new night spot.

try to find someone with a GE mount to mount on. take multiple exposures and stack them afterwards to reduce noise.

If I need to use averted vision when it is a plainly naked eye object, the sky is really bad. anyway i did not say that it is not visible, but it is just barely visible. gone are the days when the sky in Mersing is so dark that the Milky way casts a shadow on your feet...

True, it might not be as good as before, but i won't go to the extent of calling it really bad. There's a chalet nearby for those who intend to stay more than one night which is appealing especially to astronomy camps and those who do not drive.

Factor in the close proximity of the chalet, cost and "fairly dark skies", i personally think Mersing is still currently the best place for star gazing/astrophotography until they activate the street lights

I've never seen the milky way being able to cast a shadow in mersing.....must have been an awesome sight

Yes, it was certainly an awesome sight. Too bad I have not started on photography yet. Well, perhaps the shot was taken towards the southern sky so it appears that the condition is that bad. Is there a picture taken towards the north? IIRC, the beach faces the north, so you might still enjoy a good northern to equatorial view.

They used to Mersing but they said it's too light polluted now and they decided to switch to Pulau Besar. But none of them had been there before I hear. Hope it'll be good.

Hi,
Can be done by using the img tag, but not all gallery hosting website allow you to display the photo hosted on their website using this direct method especially those free gallery hosting service.

Have a nice day.
