After seeing the printouts of those portable dye-sub, I'm completely won over by them! The quality is very good. But too bad they only print up to 4R sizes only...
Is there is such a thing as a dedicated A4 dye-sub printer? I'd love to buy it. I'm shying away from inkjet photo printers after my bad experience with them. Even if I don't print for just 2 months or so, ink noticeably evaporates and after some months more, 3/4 of the ink in all my brand new ink cartridges is almost gone! Appreciate any suggestions. |

There are dye-sub A4 printers, in fact, there are around for a long long time already.
![]() As why they are not common are their once exhorbitant price. Dunno abt now if the price has dropped, they used to be like at least S$5k and above. Some of the brands are Fargo, Prima, QMS and Fuji Xerox (Tektronix, which is bought over by Fuji Xerox). |

Opps, hee.... that's why i'm a complete newbie to this.
Thanks for the intro. The usual brands like Canon, HP don't produce A4 dye-sub printers? So is the epson R800 a recommended brand? Will do a search now. Thanks. ![]() |

For R800, in terms of print quality, and now the new dropped price, I think it's a damn good printer. Think many owned this printer, and u can search www.dpreview.com for it's reviews, good and bad. |
