I don't think so, they probably knew about the HDD's warranty as I checked for the warranty online and it's registered. I've already created the RMA ticket, now looking for the appropriate stuff to pack it and send it back.

Anyway I think the warranty covers the product itself, doesn't really cover the individual parts (if any).

Finally, the last update for today.

I managed to get the new 80GB HDD working and apparently, the slow speed in copying is attributed to the speed of the new HDD. The older 40GB is a 4200RPM, the new 80GB is a 5400RPM HDD. The operation(s) are much more responsive and I'm testing the copying from CF card now, and it's much faster for 2GB worth of shots.

Finally, after 3 weeks of non-operational status, I finally got it back...but this will be the last product I'm buying from Epson anymore.

Someone (forgot who he was) used to respond when other people comment that some service centres' service staff or service policy sucks, that they must be treated nicely, and that he has no such problems. He also said shouldn't post online to complain mah, just dump it and get another brand. So cannot bang table!

No point, I'll let the others do the banging, I was there and I already witness lots of unhappy people there banging table. I only wanted to know the outcome of my P2000. Just pissed that they can't even do a simple job.

End up I had to DIY and get the P2000 up and running at the cost of S$90 compared to S$440.

That guy must be a real idiot.

Bang table is the way to go. Complains are for men, being nice is for wimps.

The saying "What is good for the goose is not good for the gander" and the term "poetic justice" come to mind when I read this. I guess that someone is a real Goose.

That is what Windows people are saying of the Apple people.

Imagine paying so much for a HDD where you can almost get one and do it yourself. Its just that people are so scared to loose out on their warranty.

Banging table and complaining to the counter staff won't get you anywhere. Imagine you are the poor guy serving customers and get abuse, where the boss sits comfortably in the office.

You should call up the service manager discuss the best way out for your warranty.

If bang table and complain is the way to go, then we complain everyday on our rising living cost, the cost should go down right? Nope! The cost went up further.

And it seems that technology has also made ppl lazy as well.... Probably to the point where basic knowledge doesn't seem to matter. Everything technology can solve.... right?

I read from DPReview that "Press Reset" problem is quite well known among Epson's P2000, lucky you have nothing store inside yet, if not...

wow I never knew that epson stuff has such issues. Does anyone know whether the P3000 will be affected?

How high is considered high altitude? Thinking of making a trip this summer to canadian Rockies.... my P3000 got no local warranty as it is imported one.
