Default Ultrawide or a fishEye ?

Hi everyone in CS~

just wana ask all the sifu's here.

I'm just a newbie with a D80 and 18-200 Vr,

Any ideas which to choose between Sigma 10-20 or Tokina 10-17 ? due to limited $ i can only choose 1 of this glass...

I just was wondering if its possible to
defish it in order to get a decent or acceptable ultra wide pic

eg tokina taken at 10mm original has 180fov and being corrected to about 107Fov like the sigma 10mm.

sample pics of the Tokina and comparison with canon and sigma fisheyes.

( very large images ) i have a 7mbps bandwidth. and it takes time ( i loaded 5 pics at a time... )

for the Sigma as a TIPA winner i think it does not need any introduction ... hehee..

ideas comments pls ....

Either way, both lenses are 10mm at the widest focal length. If you dont want the fish-eye effect, just go for the Sigma.

I find your query very weird. It would seem you're getting a WA just for focal length coverage, and you haven't quite found a need/use for it just yet.

Basically, it'll depends on whether you want the distortion effects from the FE lens.

Do you like the fisheye effect?

Can you live with curvey horizons? I can't. If I have a lot of money I might get a FE, but that's me.

You have to ask yourself that.

if it were me, i'd get the WA instead of the FE
main reason is that the WA will be used more often than the FE

thanks for the replies

not getting a ultra wide just for focal length coverage ....
its just that i cant afford to get both at a time. so was just wondering if its possible to defish tokina and use it as a wide angle ( with a acceptable pic quality ) so that i can have a FE and a ultrawide(PP) w/o buying two seperate lenses .

i know the fact that after defishing picture quality will decrease, especially at the edges. yet just want to know that if its still acceptable coz I need to take pics of soviet era buildings designs and land scape. and at times a ultra wide just isnt wide enough and other times a fe might just have too much distortions in it.

so if any one has a tokina 107 could help me out here ?
or should i get the 10-20 sigma now and save up for a FE later on...

Nobody can help you im afraid, as both are use for different purposes to achieve different effects. It depends alot on your preferences.

U can defish to get the wide angle view but quality will be compromised. But not the other way. Hope it helps, if any.

I've made my mind and got the Tokina.

Btw it ROCKS !

try the links above the 2nd one has comparison of tokina 12-24 @ 12mm and the 10-17 @ 17mm

the fisheye is almost as wide and correctable with good results.
