    Wah not so hardcore lah.
I running over Gigabit network only as both the NAS support Gigabit as well as my router.
Actually electricity bill is quite minimum.

Then again, the problem would always be the bottleneck of the network if you're running NAS devices which do not support bandwidth teaming - essential if you're the type that click and i expect it to load in a second. For that, gotta go enterprise class ala 1U devices with screaming fans, racks etc. and the list goes on

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

I was just buring the DVDs for delivery the next day, client's requirement was for Tiff so alot of DVDs. I normally use TDK or imation but this time I thought of using a printable DVD and as such I could not find any except this brand Melody which was quite common at SLS so I bought 2 spools.

Anyway I managed to get the 20 DVD burned at the cost of 21 spoilt ie. nearly 1 spool of 50 DVD used. Perhaps it could also be my DVD burner not sure.

Anyway I do not back-up using DVD - too lazy. I just get a couple external firewire HDD and back up my images there onto 2 duplicate HDD. I probably have about a total 3 or 4 TB of HDD lying around

Always encounter this sort of problems.. so might as well get those 1U solutions...

Scary ... but then again, its a worth while investment if you shoot alot.

I'll always avoid that brand "Melody" as its failure rate is known. I'll pop over to get smartbuys instead.

guys... if you are looking for TY DVDs, you can go checkout VR-Zone... there usually will be some mass order going on for these TY DVDs... also, for those burning DVDs for backup, I think it is not a good idea to burn at high speed as the disc will not be as long lasting (at least that was what I was told, think recommended speed is around 4x).. hope this helps!
