Well, if you think that Mac is just a cool hardwarre design and nothing else, then I dun think you have used a Mac....

Ur.... actually I have.... I said if you strip off the hype its a UNIX variant and the design is cool.... I did not say that a lot of though went into the design process of the software as well.... But if you have worked with UNIX for a long time... then you will probably find nothing really ground breaking in a Mac - except the cool GUI. I'd liked to say that I tend to see everything as trends of code or DNA but that's too matrix....

I am not slamming the Mac coz it does have its uses. I like the iLife suit of software - free and very polished and useful. Besides, with all the hype it has generated, anything I present on the Mac gives me a +40% advantage over the same thing presented over a PC. Just like a iPod looks cooler then any MP3 player with more function. So I do have Steve Jobs to thank for radiating so much RDF that mere mortals fall over the Mac or anything Apple everytime....

Hence, the Mac is my mistress... come see her in all her glory....

I use a PC too ... but i wish the Mac Pro was a wee bit more ... "expandable" and upgradeable.
what you want to expand and upgrade?

well unix is a really great system to use. much more efficient that windows i must say. mac os x just makes unix easier for the non-techie to use, so you now have power and beauty in 1 box.

Oh I see....tech speak that is.

For me, I'm just an end user, and have no knowledge or interest about technical stuff or programming. What matters to me, is the ease of use and the convenience of it.

The Mac to me, is about lifestyle, not just style. It makes using a computer much more fun besides being easy.

When I buy a Mac, I don't need to worry about compatibility issues with drivers, I don't need to spend too much time figuring how it works, and I don't need to worry about getting or buying softwares to make it work.

Heck, all it takes, is to boot it up, and almost everything I need is in there. So far, I've just added MS Office, Photoshop, and Canon's suite of photoediting software into all my macs.

When I buy a mac, I'm buying not just a computer, I'm buying into a lifestyle, a culture, and most importantly, a wholesome solution. It works for me, I don't need to work for it. The mac culture, at least for old timers like me, taught me to buy a computer to suit my needs.

And thank God I gotten a Mac, cos then I never really became a gamer.

    I've been a Mac user since 1986....

That's the PC culture for you:

forever wanting to have the latest, the newest, the fastest, the biggest....the Best-est culture, if I may say so.

This is just a generalisation of course, but I hope u do get what I mean...

Btw, I'm still using my 6 yr old iBook G3 at home, and it is still working fine for me.

I would say Mac is the only OS that has a good OS internally (Unix) with a beauty externally (Mac).

What kind of controls you not used to? If you are only playing with your Mac for short period, you may not see a lot of differences from Windows....

You will only see the vast difference as you go deeper into the system and see the power of it

Basically the reusability of parts. Since i'm not the type that "die die must have that latest casing cos its the in thing or can mod or it looks damn cool".

I'm still using my casing from P3-450 days till now ... quite a few parts reused.

My point is, whether i can use back the case and upgrade/expand the parts without problems.

I get your point, but how much will reusing a casing save you?
