Default Help!!!Microtek Scanmaker 6100

I have a Microtek Scanmaker 6100 that I recently bought and I am having trouble scanning film. the problem is I don't achieve sharp results with the scanner...The images are always softer. Vuescan does not support my scanner so I am using ScanWizard. Medium Format scanning is still better but the images just don't come out as sharp as they should be. pls advise!!

Try downloading a trial copy of Silverfast SE. It should help somewhat. I use this scanner, but find it rather slow. I have regretted selling my Canon 4200F.

Good luck

I am using i800 and Scan Wizard 5 control Panel on the right has this button "Adjust", inside you can adjust for sharpness and after scanning, the software autoload a duplicate file to my photoshop cs2 and I do further sharpness if I need too. Hope your model 6100 has the same Scan Wizard as my i800, if not, contact customer support through internet.

Hi your negs are not flat on the holder. You have a flatbed scanner that is fixed focus. Flatbeds cannot compare to dedicated neg scanners, neg scanners can focus. Even though they do there is a lot of difference between the cheap and expensive ones. Try scanning older negs that have been sandwiched in a neg file for sometime that are flatter. They should give better results IMHO.
