B&W - shadow

Hi all. This shot was presented in b&w to show n contrast the shadows,gradient n different textures in the picture. Feel free to comment

tweak the contrast and the image will 'pop out' more.

i'd recommend you experiment with a telephoto lense next time. capture the grill swirls and little else, or even just capture the shadow, keep it simple!

stronger contrast will help. But you got to look our for the composition as well. You set the focus into the distance. Close objects are blurred, however the blurred grill in the front starts to dominate the photo, the in-focus part in the back is small and lost. you want to use out-of-focuse to emphasize in focus parts and not drown them...

Reshoot this piece. Try different angles and focus points. As with Michael's suggestion, I might have focused on a closer part of the grill.

B&W especially for objects and shapes needs some strong contrast to bring out the best in the photo. Is this shot in digital colour then converted? Or in-cam b&w mode? Whichever is the case, some post-processing work is needed (dodge and burn, curves, etc.)
