have not see the IQ of the newer 40-150 f3.5-5.6 but the older one is 40-150 f3.5-4.5 newer version is about 1/2 the lenght of older version when not extend. so is smaller in size. |

IMHO the old one still good compare to the new one, 1 fstop is significant *for me* anyway the old one ain't that heavy, just my 2 cent.

Strange that the old one is said to be better, except for the 1 f-stop. Is't the new one ED? How come the old one is better? Not that I plan to get the new one, I am still happy with my f3.5-4.5 old one. I also find the 1 f-stop too valuable so even if some would say the new is better in image quality I would still keep mine. I think the new is especially designed for the E-4xx series having weight and size in mind. Not that I call mine heavy. BTW, is the new one Made in China or Made in Japan?

i have not seen the new one yet... so don't know where is it made from ...
but acording to VSonic06's link, the new one doesn't seem to be so sharp ... i belive the 1- f-stop would make a big diffrence for me ... ![]() |

The new 40-150mm is 1/2 stop slower, not a full stop.
The other advantage of the new 40-150mm other than ED elements is that the front element doesn't turn while focusing.
