Default Newbie to Light Meter

Just bought a light meter to experiment. Wonder my interpretation of the following reading (analog scale) is correct?

a) f/4 + 0.3EV
b) f/4 + 0.7EV
c) f/4 + 0.9 almost equal to f/2.8???

Pls correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.

Rgds

Right except your (c). If it's f/4 and over by 0.9EV, you should close your aperture down to f/5.6 and not open it up to f/2.8. You can confirm that by metering at something even slightly brighter, the display will jump to f/5.6.
