I think should be more than that, but most won't just sell them alone, but with the lens together.

Don't have any idea on local, but on ebay, it seem to pop up quite frequently.

but was hoping someone here has one so that i can get an idea on its performance, especially on a G prime, otw just plonk $ into one and see.. saw the sony models at wisma, not sure if they will let me try on the spot -- the sales folks there were not approachable.

I would say the performance of 400 G + 1.4 X APO TC is very good if you stop down on a tripod.

tested on the 200 G just now, good, but 400 G f/4.5 steps down to f6.7 and i couldn't get the lens to focus (seemed stuck and hunted in a limited range although limiter was freed). may be low light or just won't work on the 400... test again on weekend in daylight.

it seems the original 1.4 APO TC (ver 1, pre ver Mk II and current 'D' ver) won't work with the 400 APO G. i tried focusing the lens manually with just the TC attached and there is very little play. could be because of the 1:1 gearing. the TC works perfectly fine with the 200 APO G so its not at fault.
looks like i'll have to get a Mk II or D version TC afterall. at 1:2 gear ratio, that may explain why there's micro-hunting on those TCs with these faster lenses... any thoughts, anyone?
