Well, yes they did, in a way. Microsoft brought over Dave Cutler, the chief architect of the VMS to write Windows NT.
Let's just say Dave Cutler didn't exactly have his own way on how NT should be designed, which is why NT's descendants such as Win2000, XP, Vista etc are still having issues.
this somehow reminds me of DEC Alpha. intel has all their IPs since the aquisition 10yrs ago, but its only with the recent launch of the new cpus (6420 i think) that really broke the alpha chips computing efficiency record. what took them so long? maybe too much pride as to copy others tech, so lets re-invent the wheel again.
