Hi
I am thinking of a Pentax K100D to replace my ageing Canon G2 P&S which I find limiting (noise, indoor white balance off, limited ISO and cropping). Can Carl Zeiss Jena lenses from my old (1980s) Praktica camera (bayonet B mount) be adapted to a Pentax K100D? I need ready made ones as DIY is beyond my ability. Also for analog flashes Metz Mecalitz 30 BCT4 and SCA 300? Metz's website does not list these old models. Thanks for your time |

Sorry to tell you that Praktica bayonet B mount lenses can't be used on a Pentax dSLR camera as far as I know, and I don't think there is any adapter for this either...
As to flash, K100D only use P-TTL ones, so it's better you get the newer versions (both from Pentax and Sigma) for better results. BTW, K100D is an excellent camera. I'm sure you'd love it. Hope you'd be a Pentaxian soon ![]() Good luck. |

If you're ok with manual flash, older flash units can be used, the only precaution is the flash trigger voltage. Older flash guns may have a very high trigger voltage that could fry your camera's flash contacts. You can do an online search and check on your model's trigger voltage or use a multimeter and check it youself.

Another reason for incompatibility... flange distance on Praktica B is different from that on Pentax K...

Thank you very much for your replies.
I accept that it will be better for me to start with new equipment. Hopefully the days with a K1000 and 50mm f2.0 will help. Looking forward to learn from all of you |

In fact, Pentax SMC is closest to Carl Zeiss T* ... I mentioned it in this thread...

If you have the rarer PB lenses like the 50/1.4, 55/2.8 macro , 20/2.8 flektogon and 80/1.8 pancolar you can probably trade these in for lenses you can use for your pentax.
that said, the PB optics are quite good. I'm keeping mine for the day that I may be able to find an adapter to use them on my EOS. |
