but then, what i'm saying is not about that 900k, but that having hundreds of photos on an (single) eventful day is not unbelievable. i hardly shoot except for once in a blue moon travels, and does hit between 100-400 per day up to 600 at rare peaks, so i can imagine event shooter with bracketing may hit higher.
but do note the figure is on daily basis... means 365 days a year...

frm csc, if the shutter count has reached its limits, the cam can still be used until above its shutter count limits, until u see shutter not synchronising with the flash unit. then it is time to change the shutter unit. additional 10k shutter counts is np for the shutter unit.. tt's from csc.

Killed my first pro body at 180k+ shots. Got that replaced for $320. My prosumer has gone past 40k and still running fine. The pro body just clocked 20k+ now... so there is a lot more life in the camera shutter.

The Pro body had a shutter life (as written in the manual) of 150k. But mine did 30k+ more. So it is a really good lifespan I got from my camera.

Oicic....but that's what i got from my friend. But usually the shutter unit's rather sturdy and won't fail that easily. But to play safe, i changed mine.

I won't be so sure after hearing so many stories about shutter failing on the 350D and the 400D... some even with mirrors coming off... But to be fair, we don't know if those have been abused.. Still, I think it pays to stick with Nikon...

No problems with the mirrors on both my Canon SLR systems.

Haha gd then. The reason why i changed much earlier is becos going holiday next mth and i dun want the shutter to just suddenly give way during the trip.

I think all SLRs/DSLRs have rather well-built mirrors cos every shot requires the mirror to flip.

If it's for a job, it's gd to carry a spare instead. But somehow if u've used yr DSLR to shoot tens of thousands of shots, u'll know when to change the shutter.

Yup, the pros should have a spare cam, they cant afford mishaps.. since that is their rice bowl. hehe.

Yeah, that's why I was quite shocked when I read about mirrors coming off in the forum.

Maybe those have manufacturing faults or better known as QC fail.

Here's a new one. This shutter was supposedly to have been replaced at 87k. The image is now 137k. Its either Canon Singapore didnt change the shutter (yet billed me for it) OR the shutters of Canon's 1 series sucks big time. Two in a row is not funny. Lucky for me this did not happen at someone's wedding. The camera is now on its way to Canon Singapore. And yes, i do have a spare body.
