Unhappy Dead pixel on CP5700

Dear all,

Need some advice here. Just discovered a dead pixel? on my CP 5700. Always got one pink dot in all my pictures.

Anyway, to solve this???

If bring back to nikon, how much will it cost to service? i think my camera should still be under warranty.

give them a call and them that every of your pics taken has a dead pixel (and not a dead pixel on the LCD)... see if they're willing to exchange/repair.

Go back to Nikon, and they will remap for you. It takes only a minute or so for them to do that on the spot.

Some camera has built in remapping s/w to solve the problem. Dead pixels happens to all camera. 1 dead pixel doesn't affect picture quality after remapping.

Thanks Guys!

Shutterbug, by remapping, u mean they actually route around the dead pixel right? there is nothing they can do with the dead pixel?

I feel a bit cheated leh......... so fast got dead pixel, not even one year old!

I think i will go down to nikon and see what they can do for me!

No lar, don't feel cheated... all CCD and CMOS are not perfect. Even when new in the factory, there will be some dead/stuck pixels...they just remap it, that's what they do in their quality check, make sure all dead pixels here and there are remapped b4 packing into boxes. The higher the MP, the denser the pixels are pack together on the sensor, the higher the chance of finding dead pixels as time pass by.

BTW, urs is a "Stuck Pixel" not "Dead Pixel", dead pixel showed up as black dot (on bright pics) since it is dead.

If it is bright red, blue, green or white dot, then it is a stuck pixel. Put on your len cap and take a shot. If u still see a bright pink dot, then confirm a stuck pixel.

hi concuss, dun feel down or cheated.

i've got one 'dead' pixel on my CCD two months ago, being not too concern with that, i continue taking shots with that irritating red dot on all my pics. Finally, ard 1mth ago, the red dot disappear without realising it.

if it still bothers u, go down to Nikon Servicing Center, they will perform the remapping for u immediately.

Or, you can remap yourself

save yourself a trip to Shriro House, damn far

Nah, here you go...
actually from factory, there should be around 1% defects on your CCD. They are remapped too.

From the software you can see how many pixels are already remapped. A more common amount would be 200 - 300
