Wow!!!!!! Superb!!! Thanks for sharing! These photos are really sweet! But i realised that all these shots are not very fast shutter! The ISO are also low! Yet your photos are so sharp! How did you do it?

Was checking around for this before commiting to ZD 70-300 - there was no shop keeping stock on this ... anyone know where to get it?

I have to comment on something. The pics seems soft even at f8 and f11, does it means that the bigma wide open at f6.3 is not useable? Anyway, I don't expect much IQ from a 10x 3rd party zoom. If only zuiko has a 500mm zoom.

Yea! That's why I was thinking why didn't Olympus release a ultra-telephoto zoom! It is an advantage to Olympus because of the 2X crop factor. Longest in ZD range is only 300mm! I believe with a ultra-telephoto of HG range, and IS from E-3, all the birding pros will come flying to us.

Wahh! Didn't expect the thread to surface again after so long

Alleyboy : For very still birds, I normally use the remote control at 0s or the 2s timer and avoid touching the setup. I try my best not to use ISO higher than 320 in my previous E-500 setup.

Headfonz : All the pictures were taken during my first year in bird photography. I was using the E-500 + EC14 + 50-200mm initially and eventually upgraded to Bigma in October last year. I've now upgraded to the E-3 + EC14/EC20 + ZD 300mm f/2.8. See how poisonous it can get

Photougenics : Yes, that's correct. I've also tested the Sigma 50-500mm + EC20 and found that the autofocus does work - and that's 200-2000mm (35mm equi)

Kikochoo : As far as I understand, the 70-300mm is not available yet in Spore.

Inflames : I wouldn't say that f6.3 is not useable. It does but looks soft to most people. f/8 is OK but f/11 can produce very sharp pictures. All the pictures you see here have not been processed - just resized. ZD 500mm ... hmmm

I think, some here may be considering the ZD 50-200mm + EC20 combination. It does work but the pictures look soft.

Stacking of the EC14 and EC20 with other lenses will not work - even in manual mode.

i might be asking too much but here goes .....

Do you still have those lenses ? Care to share some 100% crop sample pics (640x480, center focus) for:
1) 50-200 w/ EC20
2) 50-500
3) 50-500 w/ EC20

i already have 50-200.... but the upgrade path is uncertain as there are too many options to consider.

buy:
1) 50-200SWD with EC20
2) 50-500
3) 50-500 with EC20
4) BUY ALL!!!

good shoots. I heard that Sigma 50-500 is an accurate lens and fast focus. what do you think?

do you think that it is necessary to have an OS feature for such telezoom lens for birds, like the Sigma 100-400 OS lens?

i think the sigma is a 80-400mm OS? with in-built stabilizer in oly's body together with OS in the lens.. i wonder how effective will the stabilization be?

Not a 4/3 user but i just like the idea of the 2X crop factor and in-built stabilizer.

Welcome to the Four-Thirds forum. Currently, there is no sigma 80-400mm OS in the 4/3 range. And I doubt the OS will work together with the IS on the body. Either OS, or IS.

I don't think it will be any, and there isn't. anyway, when both have OS feature, they will behave strangely.
