Default Sony Flash

Is there any news if Sony is going release any newer flash to replace the 5600HS and 3600HS?

I know Sony has rebaged the 5600HS and 3600HS with HVL F56AM & HVL F36AM. Since Sony will be releasing their new camera soon I had hope they would come out with new flash with improvements. The 5600HS and 3600HS were release in the year 2000.

I'm pretty sure they will. It's in their own interest to have more "big mama" flashes and professional studio flashes.

Well since we don't know when Sony will issue their new flashes I'll be getting a HVL F56AM from John 3:16.

Finally got myself the Sony HVL F56AM. John 3:16 didn't carry it. Got it from Cathay. Seems to work fine with my Dynax 5D

Here are some picture of the Sony HVL F56AM & Minolta 3600HS:

I notice that on the Sony HVL F56AM the rubber pannel that covers the PC Sync is going to break. Looks like I got to send it to Sony to get it fixed.

The SONY HVL F56AM is the same as the previous Minolta version, same problem with the rubber cap. Mine broken off already.

There are 2 factors to batteries:

1. Total capacity
2. Provided current (i.e., how quickly can the battery provide juice?)

Normal energizers are designed for long battery life, and not to provide a lot of energy in a short burst.

I suggest:

1. But some Sony 2800mah "Stamina" batteries. They work GREAT!!!
2. Buy some Sanyo Eneloop batteries (but they're only 2000mah)
3. Try with Energizer lithium. I don't suggest this though... Save the environment! Go rechargeable!
