    haven't been able to find reference for the sunlight damaging lens coating theory
    but I think if we point the lens directly at strong sunlight
    the photons from sun rays might excite the molecular structure of the coating chemical
    and then decompose it.
    not sure whether this is plausible or not.
    Maybe some physics pp can help to explain.

    hahas, i ever tried b4 using Av and put to max aperture, then press DOF preview as I compose, at least lesser time my eye fully exposed to the sun

    Huh? You are saying you meter the SUN and used Max Aperture somemore??!! Or do you mean smaller aperture? BTW, why you meter the sun??
