In the audiophiles world, you need to specify much more than just price and maximum power rating What are you listening preferences? Do you want neutrality in the frequency range? Studio monitors are supposed to be neutral, but many still have extremely coloured sound (like the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro with insanely emphasised bass).

In the past few months I spent nearly 1.6k on headphones, a headphone amplifier, soundcards, and cables Had to sell off a bit just to afford my D50 though

Sony MDR-7506. You can get this and other models from Hung Brothers at level 3 Sim Lim Square.

    I recommend the MDR-7506 AKA V6 too.

I think it's a retuned V6. If I'm not wrong, the 7506 is less coloured than the V6.

Hey, i went around, and i found the cheapest studio headphones around. They're Yamaha-brand, and they can be bought for $75 from Plaza Sing, Contempo (Yamaha's guitar drum section)

Oh, they're noise cancelling by the way...

Heh, I haven't even heard them myself Many use the two terms to refer to the same headphones though, hence why I did too

Anyway, I've a Mogami recabled DT990 Pro (pre '03 model) for sale if anyones interested. It's for the bassheads out there. ~$200

Im using Sony 7506, AKG K240 Studio and Sennheiser HD28 Pro. I will give thumbs up for Sony 7506 for the flat freq response. No issue for it. And it is slightly cheaper than K 240 studio by $10. I bought it 2-3 mths ago at Hung Bros at SLS.

    Good luck for headphone search.

I second the Beyer DT150. Best studio phones i've heard. Not the nicest ones around tho.

Beyer DT150 don't look good, they look like some air traffic controller's headsets. Black and dull. But the sound they produce, the quality of studio headphones, awesome. $350 only. My vote too...

I have the AT-M40fs but I feel that the Sony MDR-7506 is still slightly flatter and delivers better transients.
