Default MLM - Retouched an old photo...

Retouched a photo I took when I was just starting out. Junked it originally because I was still shooting JPG and foolishly left it on AWB, had some strange colour casts.

Now with a little more knowledge of Adobe® Photoshop® software ( ), I thought that it was worth saving after conversion to mono.

Seeking C&C on the mono techniques again.

it is more like a air brush painting than photo.

anyway,
hand railing touching the head looks strange.
square crop will work better

Come to think of it yeah. Could this be due to excessive use of dodge/burn? I thought it looked quite alright in the full-sized original. Maybe the grain isn't obvious after I resized for web.

Hmmm. Square crop. Alright. Would try to explore that avenue... though that would mean I first have to learn how to "see" in square.
