Hi all F31fd users,
The F31fd does not come with a battery charger but rather, the battery has to be charged using the camera. Is this ok in the long term (in terms of camera operation) or do you recommend getting a third party external charger? Thanks for input. |

Most of the digicam as well as most of the electronic devices like PDAs, Handphones are having charging circuits built into the device (charge their battery in the unit itself), I believe this is a mature technology, just do as the manual said, use the original charger, you should be very safe.

Unless you usage is high and find it a hassle, particularly if you have 1 or more spare batteries. When it's charging, you can't use the camera.
I had been charging my F11 this way for the past almost 1½ years. |

It is not a problem. Fuji design and allowed for this fact and it should not damage your camera in any way.

Ok thanks guys for all the opinions.
Guess I won't buy the external charger then. I was told it costs some S$30! My past digicams all come with external charger that's why I asked. I thot by charging thru the cam, it will not be good for the circuitry of the cam with all the heat produced. |

When I bought my F31 also get the external charger, get it from MS color if not wrong around $25. I guess is no harm to charge using the camera, only thing since I got 2 batts, feel easier to hv external charger

What is fuse for then ?
I don't understand... if there is a power surge then only the fuse will blow and the main equipment should be fine. You just have to spend few cents to replace the blown and have the equipment ready to use. |

>1.5 years of charging through the camera for my F30 and everything is still fine. The only thing is that my charging cable is plug to a socket at my computer UPS if I charge at home, so there is no danger of power surges as the UPS regulates the current.
For overseas trip, my 2 batteries can last me for most of my trips but I do bring along the charging cable, just in case. |
