I am very keen to get this lens. But when is it going to be made available in Singapore?
I have avoided acquiring the Sigma 17-50 2.8 over Pentax's. |

There isn't any Sigma 17-50/2.8 but two 18-50/2.8 and one 17-70/2.8-4.5. I myself like the 1770 the best ![]() Good luck. |

I believe this new Pentax wide angle zoom will rival Sigma's and Tamron's. It's 77mm filter size hints that the light gathering ability would be better, less vignetting. Two ED elements and SDM. Minimum barrel distortion and great colour saturation.

and the Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5 is very good bang for the buck. After using one for a while, the urge to get the DA* 16-50/2.8 gradually subsides, especially when the Sigma is going at < 1/2 the price of the DA* 16-50.

Yeah great move Pentax. Keep pushing the dates further away from your new base and you will see the flying away again...
I don't think it's a good way to attract new users to the Pentax system.Yes, we all know Pentax users are patient and we all wait for the best, but times have change and it's not really a good idea to make your potential customers wait. I'm totally fine with waiting for the release of the 50-135mm, but many others might not be... |

This delay is mild compared to Olympus...more than 4 years after launching the E-1 now they show their fanboys a mockup of the upcoming replacement. In the meanwhile many users have dump their system and move on to other brands.
Pentax users = buy body, hunt or wait for lens Olympus users = can buy lens but wait ages for body update. |

![]() Maybe pentax should have considered to merge with Olympus rather than Hoya. Just imagine, Olympus lens with Pentax bodies.... ![]() |

That will never happen
![]() Both companies are very fierce competitors in the medical imaging industry. Also there can be only ONE MOUNT and ONE FORMAT...either FourThirds or KAF2, take a pick and say bye bye to the other set of glasses ![]() |
