It's not even launched or official announced.

It's expected to hit Singapore shores end May/early June.

I have read that the high ISO performance of E510 is superb. You can't even tell that the ISO is set at 1600. Virtually grainless. Another killer application just like it's dust buster function.

Personally I'd go for the 410 instead.
The IS mechanism is another point-of-failure which I don't need.

Meaning it is another thing that CAN fail.
Moving parts fail eventually. That's why harddisks crash after five years or so. ![]()

I see what you mean but the benifits of in-body IS is well worth it (to me at least)
I love shooting handheld with available light and I'll take every f-stop I can get! Now if only the E510 had an articulated LCD then it'd be perfect! The live view may not be benificial in most shooting modes due to the need to flip the mirror down for focusing and up for live-view framing; but for low/ground level shots with a tripod it's a real gain. I really miss the articulated LCD on my C7070 during Macro and night shots... |

Well the new LCDs boast 176 deg. viewing angles (we shall see).
I'm still old school in the sense that I believe if the shutter is too slow for handholding you're going to need a tripod anyway.

The spec is so impressive for a entry level dslr!!I will buy this if Exx don't show up after shutter failure.

Erm, the current 'Hypercrystal' LCD on the E-330, and those on many P&S and prosumer models, are already capable of or near such large viewing angles... but having to look at a very 'squished' images on the LCD at those extreme angles' perspectives makes it difficult for proper composition and to tell if auto-focus lock was good or not.

E-510 with the Lecia 25mm would be nice.

Perhaps what he was refering to is the fully electronic coupling on 4/3rds lenses.
On the Oly system, we're fully reliant on the focusing motor/mechanism in the lens. It's not like we can uncouple the gears and switch to a pure manual focusing if you catch what I'm saying... If the focusing motor in the lens gives up that's it! ![]() |
