Benchmarking 18-200/3.5-5.6 VR against 17-55/2.8
I got a little bit boliao and shot a series of images for comparison. Shooting was easy but resizing, cropping and putting up on the web is a pain.. Still in the process of doing so... Obtained shots for 18mm (17mm), 24mm, 35mm and 50mm (55mm).
Is the 18-200 superzoom really that bad for the money you pay? All shot on D2X at 12mp, Cloudy WB, A-mode. Last edited by lsisaxon; 23rd April 2007 at 03:25 PM. |

Haha. You are really too free bro!
 Distortion can be corrected. But there is no way to salvage a shot that only a lens with a wider aperture can make. And that is the main reason why I never got round to the 18-200.

Thanks for your work. From the images, I found 18-200 is as good as 17-55 at wide angle.

not a really fair test ba IMHO
the element inside the lens also play a part. the only test i find it good is the distrotion comparsion at WA. |
