I propose that we set up a network where members loan/rent out their Pentax equipment, young and old, so that we can share equipment with each other, since Pentax is quite a small group here.
This would also be good to those who are considering Pentax if they are looking for a new system or something like that. What do you think?

Because Pentax group is small it makes certain old */limited lenses more precious. Not something you can get easily.

It will be nice but like what longko said... complications is a pain when coming to unexpected issues...
Frankly speaking, i almost wanted to post a thread to rent 1-2 lenses for my kukup trip which was just over but the fear of spoilting something and having to answer the owners stop my thought... |

In my view, I feel that maybe we are more familiar with each other and after the trust is being built up, things can goes well. Really happy longko trusted me when he offer to lend me some lenses to test with.

Just wondering: If trust is really a big problem, then how do people in Services Offered / Wanted do it?

Erm... Sorry if there is any misunderstanding in my comment. What I mean is that perhaps right now I are not doing any business. Therefore, I do not have any risk profile in my mind. So if I know "you" (friend) better then I will at least trust "you" and rent/lend it to "you" in a peace of mind.
Just my view. Others may not agree to it. ![]() |

Just my worthles 2cents. Canon & Nikon is a big market, and their lenses are more expensive but easier to get replacement than Pentax. Most people who rent out lenses are also people who runs a studio. I'd yet heard of a studio using Pentax DSLR. I don't think people who can afford all limited lenses or * lenses need extra income by risking their collection. DA prices are pretty much affordable, mostly below $800.

If you have the kit 18-55mm, add the excellent 50-200mm and possibly the 16-45mm (all DA lenses), you're pretty much covered from wide-angle to tele (24mm to 300mm on 35mm film format)
Heck, even before digital SLRs, not many photographers then had lenses covering such a wide angle of view. If newcomers buy the dual lens kit, they can already shoot quite a wide range of subjects. |

Friendly loans are ok, definitely. I would not mind lending my equipment to someone whom I know I can trust to take good care of it. But some new guy that I've never seen before? Heck, I would not just be worried about whether it'd be returned in one good piece, but whether I might even get it back at all! In any case, to attract people to Pentax, take good photos, show them that Pentax is as good as , or can be better than other brands out there! =) That'd be a lot more attractive than the prospect of a large pool of shared lenses, hee hee. |

It's hard to setup a Pentax equipment rental network due to the super low user base.
A better way is, if you wanna try or borrow a lens, just post it here at the Pentax forum. Maybe some guy would let you use the lens for a couple of days to weeks Some guys (I never even saw one of them before) here have used my lenses for short oversea trips before (free of charge of course). As a matter of fact, my Sigma 1770 is traveling in India w/ another CSer right now ![]() |

Ok, so it is better to follow FengWei's suggestion I guess. Case Closed.
