Default Another CLS question

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a light tent to shoot some products, but the thing is i'm worried my speedlights won't be triggered if my D200 has to focus near the product, and has to go into the light tent itself. Anyone here does CLS with light tent and is able to trigger the remote flashes through the light tent itself?

TIA.

The remote flashes are triggered by radio, not by the conventional slave flash method of detecting another flash and firing.

Use a macro lens, as long body can get AF, it will fire. If not use Manual mode.

Hi,

i'm triggering via my D200, and my SB-600 and SB-800 both need to be triggered via the onboard flash. I'm just wondering whether the onboard flash is enough to trigger the flashes through the light tent(with my camera inside it) before i invest my money in a light tent.

If you are refering to Nikon CLS flashes, they are not trigger by radio.... it's IR. There is a sensor by the side of the flash to detect the flashes from the flash tube.

Can the SU-800 trigger both SB-600 and SB-800 via IR? To how many can it trigger together? I was thinking of adding an SB26, would that trigger as well?

yup... I am using one which I got from PPCP previously. And I believe that there shouldn't be any difference with any other light tent. As long as the light can pass thru, it shld work.

it worked for me using sb600, sb800 plus d200, even with sb600 at the back of the tent. no problems so far. all working.

SU800 will only trigger CLS compatible lighting and so far Nikon have not make an adapter like the SU4 for this IR slave.

SB-4/6/8 00 are the CLS compatible speedlights.

Back of tent no issue , but try ones ABOVE the tent
I normally have a 4 flash setup in my light box, the ones of top sometimes fire sometimes not :P

How far above?? Else you can use the side flashes to help trigger the top one.

turn the body of the flash till the IR sensor able to receiver signal, than turn the flash head to aim at the direction you want to.

to all, some third party IR triggers may trigger SB800 or canon flash, of course it is not documented in the flash manual, you may try it out.
