Default Sigma 135-400mm f4.5-5.6

A while ago I posted some questions about the above lens under this thread. Unfortunatelly nobody replied.

Now finally I found some links to a thread on dpreview. I thought I share it here in case anybody else is interested.

Thare is also a test made which you can check out here.

Now I am sure that this is my next lens. If I find it tonight available in Sweden then I talk to my local dealer on monday and place an order.

Interesting lens. But I don't see myself owning it for the meantime... Oly, the weather must be getting warmer for you now and this lens will see a lot of shooting action. Post your shots after you get the lens and bringing it out for a spin... will be interesting to see more pictures from this monster lens. For me, I would rather buy the new 2x converter for my current ZD lenses.

Get an E510 and the problem solve. You might convince Olympus into giving you a special discount on E510 as an apology or something like that.

I had no time to call my dealer today, I hope I can do it tomorrow. Anyway, I let you know.

The weather is getting warmer, but cold weather does not really stops the use of the lens. Rain, fog and darkness does stop the use except for the Moon, unless low clouds, rain or fog...

I plan to use it mainly on birds, and the season has started.

I was also thinking of the 2xTC but in my opinion TC is not very good for long tele lenses. Maybe the new one would be better but still, you loose 2 steps, and that is a lot. Then again, the 135-400mm is a bit heavier than a 2xTC...

Which problem? You mean Blu-By-U and the banding problem? Imagine if that is worse in the E-510?

'Touch wood' means 'I hope it doesn't happen'
